Account is a billing entity. The ID of the account is used to register on an IP phone. Extension is a 'label' or short external name for the account. Extension is usually a 3-digit number that can be dialed from within the PBX.
Account ID is always unique across the partition, Extensions are unique inside your customer's IP Centrex Environment.
