CPE profiles fine tuning

CPE profiles are needed to maintain a large batch of devices to synchronously change their parameters from a single point. Sagecom 's auto-provisioning profiles are a convenient way to deploy or make changes to any number of IP phones, all in one step.

But what if end-users need customized profiles, for example, to monitor their colleagues' calls whose account IDs are different for different customers. This can be done by creating a dedicated profile for every customer's device, but what will you do when you need to change, for example, a primary codec for 146 Polycom VVX410 profiles you already created?

To deal with such a situation Sagecom enables you to override values in your CPE inventory. You can use a single generic profile and make the needed changes in your CPE inventory Notepads.

Here's the format to use:

* to override a parameter: <parameter_name> = <new_value>
* to remove: remove|delete|undef <parameter_name>
* to add: add|inject|insert <parameter_name> = <value>

If you use a profile which does not have a specific parameter, you can add the parameter and the value directly to the configuration file by placing such a sentence to the Notepad:

add my_desired_parameter = its_value

For instance, in order to use G729 as a preferred codec for all Cisco SPA 303 devices, except one, you select G729 in the profile and put the following to the Notepad of the specific CPE:

Preferred_Codec[1] = PCMU

It will make this particular device use PCMU while others will have G729 at the first place.

As an option, you can enable your end users to make the change themselves! Please refer to this article for more information.
