How do I provision IP Phones remotely?

Phone provisioning basically consists of four steps:

  • Add a new CPE profile. CPE profile allows you to manage settings for a group of devices. It's a common practice to have one profile for all devices of the same model in an office. If some phone in the office requires different settings (for example, static IP address, while other devices use DHCP), you can clone an existing profile and adjust it accordingly. We recommend to have only minimum required amount of profiles to efficiently manage them.

  • Add a new CPE Inventory entry. CPE inventory entry should use the profile created in the previous step. Make sure to specify ASCII / AES Key - 16 characters random string, for example 93750C896A35F74EF704CEA66CC89049 (it should not contain one of the following characters: ()><|"& or whitespace).

  • Assign the CPE inventory entry to an account (Account Info page -> Additional Info tab).

  • Enable provisioning in the VoIP device settings:
    • Provisioning protocol - HTTP (or HTTPS, but some devices may not work over this protocol by default).
    • Provisioning link - submit a trouble ticket for out Softswitch information.
    • ASCII key - the ASCII key you defined in the CPE inventory entry.
